Mercury Soul at Saint Joseph's Arts Society on June 5

Looking forward to returning to the stunning Saint Joseph’s Arts Society, a cathedral-turned-club that Mercury Soul is transforming with DJs, classical sets, and immersive visuals.

Mercury Soul brings together artists from different musical worlds in experiences that couldn’t happen in a traditional concert hall or club.

Tomorrow’s program draws lines between Duke Ellington and Maurice Ravel, who was deeply influenced by American jazz, even visiting Ellington at his Cotton Club in Harlem. We also connect the tango music of Astor Piazzolla with Gabriela Lena Frank, whose music reflects her Peruvian ancestry.

Beyond the classical performances, we’re also featuring members of San Francisco Ballet in a new work by SFB Principal Joseph Walsh, along with the visceral rhythms of Jiten Daiko.

Saint Joseph’s is one of the most extraordinary spaces we’ve ever worked in, and I can’t wait to see it come alive again.
