The magical intersection between music and technology is a central tenet of Mason Bates’ work, from his Grammy-winning opera The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs to his work as a composer, DJ and curator.
This season the Metropolitan Opera presents The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, which is being given an unprecedented mid-season revival and cinema broadcast due to strong demand.
Bates also creates groundbreaking projects that reach beyond the concert hall, such as the animated film Philharmonia Fantastique and its education platform Sprite’s World, which inspires hundreds of thousands of young people about the wonders of music.
As a DJ, he produces thrilling shows merging electronica, classical music, and immersive production in in spectacular venues through his outreach organization Mercury Soul.
